LMK 858 Detachable Plastic Level Probe

Looking for an alternative option to the BD Sensors LMK 858, we offer an equivalent called the HLC 900. Find out more.

Our alternative sensors are engineered to provide equivalent fit, form, and function while offering a more cost-effective solution. Backed by expert application support, our products help you reduce costs without compromising quality or reliability.

If you are looking for an alternative to the BD Sensors LMK 858, the SENSVISION HLC 900 is an equivalent detachable plastic submersible level probe for aggressive media, covering the same 0 to 0.4 mH₂O up to 0 to 100 mH₂O nominal ranges with a PP-HT housing, ceramic diaphragm and an M12x1 connector that lets the cable be replaced without changing the sensor. It provides the same fit, form and function, making it a cost-effective solution for replacing the BD Sensors LMK 858.

The SENSVISION HLC 900 delivers equivalent hydrostatic level measurement performance without compromising quality, accuracy or reliability, and is backed by expert application support to help you specify the right diaphragm, seal and cable combination for your medium.

SENSVISION HLC 900 – An Equivalent to the BD Sensors LMK 858

The BD Sensors LMK 858 is a detachable plastic submersible level probe for hydrostatic measurement in aggressive and viscous media such as acids, alkalis and sludge. A capacitive ceramic sensor with a 99.9% high-purity Al₂O₃ diaphragm sits in a 45 mm PP-HT housing, covering nominal ranges from 0 … 40 cmH₂O up to 0 … 100 mH₂O at ±0.35% FSO standard accuracy, or ±0.25% FSO as an option, with a 2-wire 4 … 20 mA output on a 9 … 32 V DC supply.

The SENSVISION HLC 900 is a directly equivalent detachable plastic probe covering the same 0 to 0.4 mH₂O through 0 to 100 mH₂O span across thirteen standard steps – 0.04 bar to 10 bar gauge – with matching accuracy of up to ±0.35% of span as standard and up to ±0.25% of span optionally, the same 4 to 20 mA two-wire output on 9 to 32 VDC, and an additional 0 to 10 V three-wire option on 12.5 to 32 VDC. Long-term stability is quoted at up to ±0.1% of span per year.

The detachable design is the reason to choose either probe. The sensor head separates from the cable assembly – on the HLC 900 through an M12x1 four-pin connector – so a damaged or chemically attacked cable can be replaced without pulling and rebuying the whole instrument, and the sensor can be lifted out for cleaning or recalibration and refitted without disturbing the cable run. In a sludge or acid tank, where the cable is the part most likely to suffer, that turns a probe replacement into a cable replacement.

Everything below the connector is plastic, not stainless steel. Both probes use a PP-HT housing of 45 mm diameter weighing approximately 400 g without cable, with FKM and EPDM seal options and PVC, PUR or FEP cable sheaths carrying the integrated atmospheric reference tube for gauge measurement, sealed to IP 68 for permanent submersion. Both carry integrated lightning protection on the two-wire version for outdoor and open-tank installations. One specification difference is worth noting: the LMK 858 is supplied with the 99.9% ceramic diaphragm as standard, whereas on the HLC 900 the 96% grade is standard and 99.9% is the option, so the high-purity diaphragm should be specified explicitly when matching an existing LMK 858.

Whether you are replacing an installed BD Sensors LMK 858 or specifying a serviceable level probe for a new sludge, acid or effluent application, the SENSVISION HLC 900 delivers equivalent measurement performance, wetted materials and the same detachable cable convenience as a dependable, cost-effective alternative.
