SENSVISION HLS 330 – An Equivalent to the BD Sensors LMP 331
The BD Sensors LMP 331 is a stainless steel screw-in level transmitter with a G 3/4″ flush pressure port. It is mounted into the vessel wall or process line rather than suspended in the liquid, and the flush diaphragm sits level with the process boundary so there is no cavity for product to collect in. That makes it the right choice for viscous, pasty or crystallising media that would block the narrow bore of a conventional recessed port. Nominal ranges run from 0 … 100 mbar to 0 … 40 bar with standard accuracy of ±0.35% FSO.
The SENSVISION HLS 330 is the direct equivalent: a stainless steel screw-in transmitter with a G 3/4″ flush process connection to DIN 3852, covering nominal level ranges from 0 … 1 mH₂O to 0 … 400 mH₂O — equivalent to 0.1 to 40 bar gauge, matching the LMP 331 span. Standard accuracy is up to ±0.35% of span from 0.4 bar (up to ±0.5% below 0.4 bar), with a ±0.25% option and a 0.1% precision option, mirroring the LMP 331 accuracy grades exactly.
Neither of these is a submersible probe. Both are process-mounted instruments that thread into a boss, flange adaptor or pipe fitting and measure the hydrostatic head of liquid above the diaphragm. Because the sensing surface is flush and easily wiped or cleaned in place, both suit process tanks and vessels, water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations, recycling plant, industrial storage and closed-vessel level control.
Output and supply options line up closely. Both offer a 4–20 mA two-wire output as standard with 0–20 mA and 0–10 V three-wire alternatives; the HLS 330 runs from 8–32 VDC on the two-wire version, the same supply window as the LMP 331. Response time is 10 ms or less on two-wire and 3 ms or less on three-wire for both instruments, with 200 ms on the 0.1% precision option. Thermal behaviour matches too: up to ±1% of span below 0.4 bar and ±0.75% from 0.4 bar, with long-term stability of ±0.1% of span per year.
Materials, approvals and environmental ratings align. Both use a stainless steel 1.4404 (316L) pressure port and housing with a 1.4435 (316L) diaphragm and FKM seals as standard, EPDM and NBR available. Both offer intrinsically safe Ex ia versions for gas and dust atmospheres on the 4–20 mA two-wire output and SIL 2 configurations to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, and both share a permissible medium temperature range of −40 to 125 °C. Whether you are replacing an existing BD Sensors LMP 331 or specifying a flush-diaphragm screw-in level transmitter for a new application, the SENSVISION HLS 330 provides a dependable, cost-effective alternative.
