LMP 808 Detachable Plastic Level Probe

Looking for an alternative option to the BD Sensors LMP 808, we offer an equivalent called the HLS 880. Find out more.

Our alternative sensors are engineered to provide equivalent fit, form, and function while offering a more cost-effective solution. Backed by expert application support, our products help you reduce costs without compromising quality or reliability.

If you are looking for an alternative to the BD Sensors LMP 808, the SENSVISION HLS 880 is an equivalent detachable plastic submersible level probe designed to provide the same fit, form, and function. It shares the same PP HT housing and stainless steel 316L diaphragm, covers the same 0 to 1 mH₂O up to 0 to 100 mH₂O nominal ranges, matches the ±0.35% and ±0.25% accuracy grades and the optional SIL 2 version, providing a cost-effective solution for replacing the BD Sensors LMP 808.

Our alternative level probes are engineered to provide equivalent performance without compromising quality, accuracy, or reliability. Backed by expert application support, the SENSVISION HLS 880 helps reduce costs while maintaining the chemical compatibility, submersible durability and serviceability your application requires.

SENSVISION HLS 880 – An Equivalent to the BD Sensors LMP 808

The BD Sensors LMP 808 is the plastic-bodied member of the detachable submersible level probe family. Its PP-HT housing replaces the stainless steel body used on probes such as the LMP 308i, which makes it the right choice where the medium would attack a steel housing — fuels, oils, process water, filtrated sewage and biogas plant liquors. The wetted diaphragm remains stainless steel 1.4435 (316L), and nominal ranges run from 0 … 1 mH₂O up to 0 … 100 mH₂O.

The SENSVISION HLS 880 is the direct equivalent and shares that construction exactly: a PP HT plastic housing with a stainless steel 1.4435 (316L) diaphragm, a POM C protection cap and a choice of FKM or EPDM seals to match the medium. It covers the same 0 … 1 mH₂O to 0 … 100 mH₂O nominal level ranges (0.1 to 10 bar gauge) and, like the LMP 808, it is a piezoresistive hydrostatic probe rather than a screw-in transmitter. Both weigh approximately 400 g without cable and both are rated IP68 for permanent submersion.

The probes are lowered into the liquid on a shielded suspension cable with an integrated air tube, so the sensor is vented to atmosphere and the level reading is not disturbed by changing barometric pressure. PVC, PUR and FEP cable sheaths are offered on both instruments so the cable material can be matched to the medium as carefully as the housing — an important point in fuel and chemical service.

The detachable design is the defining feature and it carries across directly. On both instruments the probe head separates from the cable assembly at a connector, so a damaged or chemically degraded cable can be replaced without scrapping the sensor, and a sensor can be exchanged without pulling and re-terminating a long cable run. In practice this cuts downtime on tank and borehole installations and reduces the number of complete assemblies that have to be held in stores.

Performance and output options line up. Both offer a 4–20 mA two-wire output as standard with 0–20 mA and 0–10 V three-wire alternatives, both give standard accuracy of ±0.35% of span from 0.4 bar with a ±0.25% option (up to ±0.5% below 0.4 bar), and both respond in under 10 ms. The HLS 880 adds long-term stability of up to ±0.1% of span per year, integrated lightning protection on the two-wire version and an optional SIL 2 version to IEC 61508 and IEC 61511, matching the SIL 2 option on the LMP 808. Whether you are replacing an existing BD Sensors LMP 808 or specifying a plastic-bodied submersible probe for a new installation, the SENSVISION HLS 880 provides a dependable, cost-effective alternative.
