Applications For Motorsport Load Cells
The Titan Moto F-Series is used wherever push and pull forces need to be measured on a vehicle:
- Quick-shift gear change – shift rod force sensing for clutchless upshifts and downshifts on sequential gearboxes.
- Suspension testing – measuring pushrod and link forces during setup and development.
- Control rod force – monitoring loads in steering, throttle and linkage rods.
- Aero surface measurements – measuring loads on wing supports and aerodynamic devices.
- General vehicle testing – in-line force measurement on test rigs and development cars.
How A Gearshift Load Cell Works
Inside the load cell, strain gauges are bonded to a precision-machined stainless steel element and wired as a Wheatstone bridge. When the rider or driver pushes or pulls the gear lever, the shift rod loads the element in compression or tension, the gauges change resistance and the bridge output shifts in proportion to the force.
Built-in electronics amplify this signal to a 0.5-4.5 V output. With no load the output sits at 2.5 V, rising with compression and falling with tension, so the ECU can tell both how hard and in which direction the lever is being moved. When the force crosses a set threshold, the ECU cuts or blips the engine to unload the gearbox and complete the shift.

Titan Moto F-Series Motorsport Load Cell FAQs
What is the difference between the F-Series and the M-Series?
The two share the same ranges, output and performance. The F-Series has M6 x 1 female threads, while the M-Series has male threads in M6 x 1 or M8 x 1.25. Choose the one that matches your shift rod and rod ends.
Which force range should I choose?
Select a range comfortably above the highest force you expect on the shift rod. The ±50 kg and ±100 kg ranges give the best resolution for lighter linkages, while ±150 kg and ±200 kg suit heavier shift mechanisms. All ranges are rated for 1.5 times overload.
Will it work with my ECU?
The 0.5-4.5 V output suits most ECUs and data loggers with a 0-5 V analog input. Use the ratiometric version with a 5 V sensor supply from the ECU, or the regulated version with 8 to 16 VDC vehicle power.
Which way does the signal move?
The output is 2.5 V at zero load. It increases with compression and decreases with tension.
