Applications For SDI-12 Pressure Transmitters
The Titan TPT-SDI is built for unattended, low-power pressure monitoring wherever SDI-12 loggers are used:
- Environmental and hydrological monitoring – pressure measurement on SDI-12 logging networks.
- Water distribution networks – remote pressure logging on mains, pumping stations and district metering.
- Fire hydrant pressure monitoring – long-term logging of supply pressure at hydrants.
- Remote terminal units (RTUs) – a low-power digital input for telemetry outstations.
- Solar and battery-powered stations – minimal current draw extends battery life between visits.
- Data loggers – direct digital connection with no analog input channel required.
- OEM systems – an addressable digital sensor for monitoring equipment and skids.
- Laboratory and research projects – field studies and long-duration test programs.
What Is SDI-12 And Why Use It For Pressure Measurement?
SDI-12 (Serial Digital Interface at 1200 baud) is a communications standard developed for environmental monitoring. It lets a data logger power, address and read intelligent sensors over a simple three-wire connection: power, ground and a single data line. Each sensor has its own address, so multiple sensors can share the same cable run back to the logger.
For remote sites this brings clear advantages over 4-20 mA or voltage outputs. Sensors sleep between measurements, so average power consumption is very low. Readings arrive as calibrated digital values, so there are no analog scaling errors or input cards to configure. And because the bus is shared, wiring is simpler and cheaper on sites with several sensors. The TPT-SDI brings these benefits to a rugged, ceramic-sensor pressure transmitter.

Titan TPT-SDI SDI-12 Pressure Transmitter FAQs
What is an SDI-12 pressure transmitter?
It is a pressure transmitter that sends calibrated readings as digital data using the SDI-12 protocol, rather than as a 4-20 mA or voltage signal. It connects to any data logger or RTU with an SDI-12 port.
Can several TPT-SDI sensors share one cable?
Yes. SDI-12 is an addressable bus, so multiple sensors, each with its own address, can be connected to the same data line and read individually by the logger.
How much power does the TPT-SDI use?
It draws less than 250 µA when idle and less than 4 mA when taking a measurement, from a 6 to 36 VDC supply, which makes it well suited to battery and solar-powered sites.
What pressure ranges are available?
Standard ranges are 0.5, 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 400 bar in gauge, sealed gauge or absolute reference.
