String Pots

Draw wire sensors, commonly referred to as string pots are used to measure linear travel using a flexible steel cable that is wrapped around a cable drum. The drum is attached to a sensing element that provides a proportional output signal based on the amount of cable that is extracted. Measurements from 50mm to 50,000mm can be accomplished. Sensor types available are Potentiometer, Voltage, Current, Incremental Encoder or Absolute Encoder.
